Actually, Porsche was in F1 as an engine supplier back in the day. Footwork Porsche was the team name. Michele Alboreto, after he left Ferrari, joined this squad but it was a terrible effort. Needless to say, Porsche left F1 soon thereafter.

BTW, Lamborghini was also an engine supplier. For a single season, if I remember correctly, supplying the Larousse squad. I believe Aguri Suzuki - team principal of Super Aguri - was one of their drivers.

Agreed. It's almost unimaginable that any fan of F1 wouldn't be a fan of Ferrari, if not their favorite team. As you mentioned, Ferrari has a pedigree that almost no other team/brand has, and not just in F1.

There's a pretty good commercial running lately that shows all the various Porsche race/production cars driving across a sand bed. There's even a flash of the Flying Lizard toward the end. I think it'd be interesting to see Porsche in F1, but for now I'm content with being a part of the GT battle between Ferrari and Porsche in American Le Mans.

The two greatest makes in history... My allegiance? Red.
